Auditions

Auditions for this fall's production of The Knight of the Burning Pestle will be held in mid-September — details coming soon!

Auditions for our summer productions are normally held in late February or early March. Join our e-mail list and Facebook group to make sure you don't miss the announcements!

We generally ask people auditioning for us to prepare a Shakespearean monologue of at least one minute and to bring a photo (either a formal headshot or an informal snapshot is fine).

If you have questions, please contact us.

Crew Needs

We are always looking for people to become involved with our productions as:

  • assistant costumers
  • set builders and painters
  • light and sound board operators
  • assistant stage managers

If you are interested in working with us in any of these roles, please contact us.

Artistic Collaborations

The Ithaca Shakespeare Company is committed to providing a serious and collegial creative opportunity to as many local artists, theatrical and otherwise, as possible.

We are very interested in developing collaborations with musicians and visual artists in the area. Some possibilities include:

For musicians:

  • providing live pre-show and intermission musical entertainment
  • working closely with the director to provide live music as part of the production itself
  • we are particularly interested in string and brass instruments and drums/percussion, but will be happy to consider other possibilities as well

For visual artists:

  • working with the set designer to contribute to the visual design of the production
  • setting up a display of your work near the entrance to the performance site

Our production of A Midsummer Night's Dream in 2009 had a total attendance of nearly 3,000 people, with an average of over 300 people per night and as many as 600 at a single performance. So we can help provide a significant amount of exposure for artists who want to work with us.

If you are interested in exploring these possibilities further, please contact us.

Volunteer Opportunities

Shakespeare needs you!

We are always looking for volunteers to help with upcoming productions.

How can you help?

  1. BE AN USHER AT PERFORMANCES: Ushers will greet audience members, hand out programs, collect admission money, staff the ISC merchandise table, etc.

  2. ASSIST WITH COSTUMING: Our costume department often needs help with simple sewing tasks, as well as non-sewing tasks like assisting with fittings for the actors, etc.

For more information or to sign up to volunteer, please contact us.

You KNOW you want to be a part of this exciting company! Here's your chance to help make our productions successful!
