Acting Shakespeare Workshop

September 25-26

Join the director of Macbeth for a weekend workshop on acting Shakespeare! This is a practical, hands-on workshop designed to immerse participants in what they need to know and do in order to act Shakespeare well. Work on speaking Shakespeare's language more effectively and adding depth to your portrayals of Shakespeare's characters.

The workshop will be held on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, September 25-26, at the Community School of Music and Arts.

The Knight of the Burning Pestle

Coming November 11-14 and 18-21, 2010

This fall, the ISC brings you an indoor performance of a hilarious comedy by one of Shakespeare's most popular contemporaries.

The Knight of the Burning Pestle is a play about a group of actors putting on a play — or trying to, anyway. Their performance is unexpectedly interrupted, and comic chaos ensues as they try to adjust to the disruption.

Imagine Noises Off combined with the very first dramatic adaptation of Don Quixote — written and performed on the English stage only two years after Cervantes' classic novel was first published — and then add in songs, romance, fights, a ghost that may or may not be a ghost, some unruly audience members, and a whole bunch of dirty jokes, and you'll have some idea of the degree of entertainment in store for you.

Shakespeare never attempted anything like this!

Memories of "Mackers"...

This summer's production of Macbeth was a huge expansion in scope and scale over our previous productions at Cornell Plantations. From the set and stage to the cast of more than 30 actors, from the coven of witches to the elaborately and beautifully choreographed fight sequences...seeing all that complexity come together and come alive on opening night was really wonderful.
